Beijing Information Science and Technology university

Beijing Information Science & Technology University (BISTU) was formed in 2008 when two older institutions, Beijing Institute of Machinery (BIM) and Beijing Information Technology Institute (BITI), merged.

BISTU is comprised of twelve schools spread over five campuses: School of Electromechanical Engineering, School of Instrument Science and Photoelectric Engineering, School of Automation, School of Information and Communication Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Economics and Management, School of Information Management, School of Political Theory Education, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Applied Sciences, College of International Education.

BISTU offers thirty two bachelor degrees, fourteen first-level master’s degrees, thirty-four second level-master’s degrees, and two professional master degrees (Master of Engineering and MBA). Additionally, BISTU is authorized by the Ministry of Education of offer MSC degrees in eight engineering subject areas.

We have nearly one thousand full-time post-graduate students and eleven thousand full-time undergraduate students, including eighty international students representing ten countries.

There are nearly eight hundred lecturers among the one thousand and four hundred faculty members. Moreover, four hundred twenty one lecturers have received advanced professional certifications and two hundred fifty eight of them have earned doctorate degrees.

BISTU currently enjoys productive cooperation with forty overseas universities from the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and Korea, etc. Most of our international students are from Korea and the former Soviet Union. The university offers different levels of Chinese courses or other undergraduate subjects based on the international students’ Chinese language ability. All international students are under the care of the College of International Education.
